Eight gymnasts from Booker Gym Club took home gold medals when they entered the Southern Region Tumbling Qualifiers.

The club had 13 gymnasts competing at the event with 12 of them successfully qualifying for the semi-finals which will be held in Peterborough on May 30-31.

Eddy Flowers, Callum Bartlett, Louie Holliday, Laura Perring, Hana-Marie Cantrell, Freddie Hoskins, Shane Hampden and Sean Harrison all picked up gold medals at the qualifiers, which were held in Milton Keynes on March 8.

Elsewhere, there were silver medals for Anna Hunter, Ozzy Emery and Jack O’Brien while Isabella Baillieu finished as a bronze medallist.

The club enjoyed further success when 22 Booker gymnasts competed in the UKG Individual Apparatus Competition, again in Milton Keynes, winning 17 golds, nine silvers and nine bronxe medals.

Sophie Withey was the outstanding performer taking home gold on the floor and vault, and also in the beam events before picking up silver on the bars.

Her all round score secured her a place at the USAIGC World Championships in Palm Springs in June this year, joining seven other gymnasts from Booker who qualified in October 2014.
