HEARTS keeper Craig Gordon fears the club are trying to sell him to the highest bidder before Wednesday night's transfer deadline passes.

The Scotland No.1 has been targeted by Fulham, who have had one offer rejected by the Tynecastle board.

However, Gordon, 24, insists he would be happy to stay with Hearts unless an offer too good to refuse on his own terms comes in.

He was surprisingly omitted from the team which faced Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday, and said: "I'm not entirely sure what's going on, but it looks as if Hearts would prefer it if I left - but I don't want to go.

"If there's an offer for me that I couldn't turn down, that's fine. If not, I want to stay where I am."

He added: "If another offer has come in from Fulham, I'll consider it, but I'm doing nothing for the time being except getting ready to play for Hearts."

Hearts have placed a £10million valuation on Gordon, whose team-mate for club and country, Paul Hartley, was another left out of the team on Saturday by head coach Valdas Ivanauskas.

It was confirmed by Ivanauskas that both players were fit for selection but left out for other reasons.

Rangers are thought to have an interest in midfielder Hartley, 30, who would be available for a small fraction of Gordon's price.

Gers defender Davie Weir admitted he was stunned when his fellow Scotland internationals failed to appear in Saturday's match, which finished goalless.

But he was quick to acclaim both as players capable of making a big impact wherever they spend the rest of the season.

Weir said: "Craig is top-notch, he's got the lot. There is nothing stopping him from going all the way and being a name for years to come.

"But I must say that I think Paul Hartley is a top player, as well. He's also of the standard where he can play wherever he wants."
