Wanderers ended their Tuesday night jinx at Adams Park yesterday as a penalty in the 12th minute of stoppage time gave them a 2-1 win against Exeter City.
The match was locked at 1-1 as the game entered its 102nd minute when Aaron Pierre tumbled under a challenge in the box, prompting the referee to point to the spot.
Paul Hayes scored with the last kick of the game, ending the Chairboys’ three-year winless run on Tuesday nights at Adams Park, ensuring they stay third in League Two.
Gareth Ainsworth said the win left him “proud” and “speechless”.
