Marlow Ladies were celebrating promotion on Sunday after coming from behind to beat Ascot United 7-2.

Hat-tricks from Abi Canvin and Tracy Corkett and a goal from Grainne McNally ensured that the visitors ended the season in style.

Marlow started the day in third place knowing that a win in their final match of the season would be enough to secure them second spot and earn promotion to the Southern Region Women’s Premier.

Their opponents, who began the game third from bottom, took a surprise lead early on before McNally fired home the leveller from close range.

The turnaround was complete before the break as Canvin netted her first of the match as Marlow took a 2-1 lead into half-time.

A quick fire double from Corkett put her side firmly in control after the restart before Ascot pulled one back.

But the away side weren’t to be denied and after Corkett had bagged her third of the afternoon Canvin chalked up a hat-trick of her own to take her tally to 36 for the season.

Promotion is the perfect farewell for Marlow’s player manager Gemma Harmycz, who leaves the club after guiding the team to second in their 11 team league.
