Wanderers produced some of the best football they have played all season against Plymouth in the play-off semi-final first leg, according to manager Gareth Ainsworth.

The Blues were firmly in control of the tie until the hosts’ late rally with Aaron Holloway and Steven Craig working tirelessly to help put three goals past Plymouth at Home Park for the first time this season.

Craig teed up the first for Holloway, who finished with a superb half-volley, before the Scotsman put Blues 3-0 up with a smart finish after quick thinking from Sam Saunders.

The on loan Brentford man had a fine game on his return from injury, controlling the match from his central midfield role.

At the back, Aaron Pierre and Alfie Mawson both did their upmost to protect rookie goalkeeper Alex Lynch, successfully for the most part. Pierre in particular was at his best, shackling the Pilgrims top scorer Reuben Reid with a no nonsense display.
