Fan's View blogger Will Vince is excited to see Wanderers at Wembley for the first time in his lifetime and feels they deserve their day under the arch...

After completing the job last Thursday Wycombe fans like myself will be counting down the days until Saturday’s showpiece occasion at Wembley Stadium against Southend United.

Whatever the result on Saturday, a Wembley final and a day out for everyone is the least the team deserve for their outstanding efforts so far this season.

A first trip to the national stadium for 21 years will mean many Wanderers fans will watch their team at the most iconic football stadium in the world for the first time.

I really hope that the team carry on their excellent form from the last three matches in to the game at Wembley and give themselves a real shot at what must go down as one of the more unlikely of promotions.

A 5-3 aggregate win over Plymouth in the play-offs doesn’t tell the full story of how the blues dismantled the Devonians in the first half of both legs.

The score-line certainly flattered Plymouth and it is no coincidence that Wycombe’s return to form has coincided with many first team players returning to full fitness.

The return of Sam Saunders and Joe Jacobson has had a massive bearing on the team, the set piece specialists’ contributions are obvious with Wycombe’s last five goals all coming from dead ball situations.

Aaron Holloway has excelled in the last few weeks of the season; the giant striker gave Plymouth a torrid time in the play-offs and is a man who looks to relish the big occasion.

I think his hold up play and Paul Hayes’s intelligence could be a potent weapon on Saturday on what is sure to be the finest playing surface the team have graced all season.

Wycombe are going to need to rely on experienced players like Hayes, who has experienced playing under Wembley’s arch before.

The last thing Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth wants is his players becoming over-awed with the occasion and freezing under the pressure.

The Chairboys have shown great levels of performance all season and remain unbeaten against the Shrimpers during this campaign, winning at home 4-1 and drawing 2-2 at Roots Hall.

Saturday is going to be a great occasion for anyone with an affiliation with Wycombe Wanderers, one to be savoured and who knows, maybe Paul Hayes will be walking the 107 steps up to Wembley’s Royal box to lift the winning trophy come 7:30 pm on Saturday evening.
