World number one Novak Djokovic and Richard Gasquet caused a stir in more ways than one at Stoke Park on the third day of The Boodles.

The Serbian's eagerly anticipated arrival at the exhibition tournament came via helicopter before he prepared himself for his first match of the grass court season.

With Wimbledon beginning on Monday, the 28-year-old was given a stern test of his credentials by the world number 20, who took the match to a deciding tie break after taking the second set.

Djokovic had earlier claimed the first 6-4 before losing the second 6-7 after the Frenchman triumphed 6-8 in the tie break.

But it was the eight-time Grand Slam champion who took the spoils, winning the deciding tie break 10-8.

Both players were in good spirits, interacting regularly with the crowd – two of whom went home with a souvenir after both players threw their shirts to adoring fans.

Djokovic, who was watched by coach Boris Becker, also earned one of the biggest cheers of the day when he caught a falling ball in his pocket.
