Marlow’s Alice Stratford swam, cycled and ran her way to victory in the female under-20 section of the National Standard Distance Championships.

The former Wycombe High School student took first place in the triathlon, which was held in Chester on June 14, after seeing off competition from Great Britain representative Sian Randall and Beth Eyles.

Stratford, who is studying History at Birmingham University, began the triathlon with a 1500m swim before jumping on her bike to undertake a 40km cycle.

The final leg was a 10km run to the finish line, with the former Wycombe District Swimming Club member clocking a time of 2:33:23.

Stratford, who has a background in cross country running, has now secured her place to represent Great Britain in the junior age group category at the World Championships, which take place in Chicago in September.
