Amersham & Chiltern eased to a fifth consecutive win in the London One North Division as they beat North Walsham 40-26 at home on Saturday.

Joe Butler scored an inspired hat-trick to add to Dave Francis’ first half try while Andy Fluker was his usual reliable self with the kicking tee to help keep the scoreboard ticking over.

The four tries mean the win earned Amersham another bonus point and saw them maintain their chase at the top of the table.

They have been scoring at will and have registered 163 points in their last four games and the 309 they have accumulated over the course of the season is the best in the league.

It was honours even between Marlow and Aylesbury in a top four showdown in the Southern Counties North Division with the match finishing 12-12.

Aylesbury slipped from the summit of the table and had Marlow won they could have gone top but instead fall to fourth while Reading Abbey now occupy first spot.

Beaconsfield took full advantage of Marlow’s draw to move ahead of their local rivals thanks to a 16-5 win at Drifters.

It was the ideal way to prepare for the crunch meeting between the two with Marlow traveling to the B’s home ground in what promises to be a competitive fixture tomorrow.

High Wycombe were on the receiving end of a crushing 42-6 defeat at home against Salisbury in the South West Division South West One East League.

Salisbury made light work of Wycombe, who have now won once in their last five games and sit second bottom of the table, to remain second in the league.

Wycombe are currently in the relegation places and lie two points behind Reading but still enjoy a five point cushion to bottom of the table Swanage & Wareham.

They play Leighton Buzzard, who were unfortunate to lose 10-7 to Trowbridge, tomorrow. Despite this loss Buzzard will fancy their chances against a Wycombe side lacking confidence.
