Amersham & Chiltern’s incredible form continued as they made it seven wins on the trot with a resounding 43-14 win over Harrow on Saturday.

Chiltern ran in seven tries on the way to the win which keeps them four points clear at the top of the London One North table.

The celebratory mood was tempered somewhat after Chiltern's George Wood suffered a suspected broken leg.

The top three teams are all in the midst of impressive unbeaten runs – second place Tring have won their last nine matches while third place Brentwood have six wins in a row – and Amersham’s lead at the top is by virtue of bonus points alone.

Such intimacy at the top means that Amersham’s clash with Tring this Saturday has taken on greater significance as a defeat would see their title rivals draw level on points with them.

They will first turn their attention to the Bucks Cup Final where they take on Marlow on Thursday night.

Beaconsfield matched Chiltern’s rampant mood as they recorded an impressive 45-10 victory over Bletchley in the Southern Counties North.

The win sees Beaconsfield remain on the tail of league leaders Reading Abbey, who they are eight points behind, and open up a seven point gap over fourth placed Buckingham.

Beaconsfield’s dominant display was even more impressive considering Bletchley were heading into the match on the back of a win over high-flying Aylesbury.

However, they were no match for Beaconsfield who will now be hopeful of extending their winning run to three when they take on Buckingham in their next match.

Elsewhere, High Wycombe picked up what could prove to be an important win against South West One East’s bottom club Swanage & Wareham.

Wycombe are just one place above the relegation zone, but Saturday’s win allowed them to open up an eight point gap on 13th placed reading after they lost against Towcestrians.

The winning theme for Bucks’ teams ended as Marlow slipped to a 13-6 defeat against Thatcham in the Southern Counties North.

Marlow would have gone into the game expecting to take all the points from a Thatcham side that had not won since the opening weekend of December.

They instead became only the second team to lose against Thatcham this season as the home side proved a tough nut to crack.

The Thatcham pack won the set piece battle and this proved to be decisive as they drove over from a scrum to allow Louis Kanaar-Brown to touch down for the only try of the match in the second half.

Marlow will have a good chance to bounce straight back form the defeat when they take on bottom of the table Swindon College Old Boys at home in their next league match this Saturday.
