Wycombe Wanderers have been charged with misconduct by the Football Association as a result of events during their 1-0 win against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.
The charge comes as a consequence of two breaches of the FA's rules relating to the behaviour of players and/or officials.
Argyle have also been charged, and proceedings will be conducted together with a result to be determined at a joint hearing. Wanderers have until 6pm on Friday to respond to the charge.
The match at Home Park saw a number of flash points with players from both teams involved in a heated melee on the pitch just before half-time.
The full-time whistle saw tempers flare again as Gareth Ainsworth and Plymouth manager, Derek Adams, exchanged words and a number of players and backroom staff also took part in an argument on the touchline.
Adams suggested after the game that Ainsworth’s failure to shake his hand had played a part in sparking the post-match controversy.
There has been no suggestion that the charge relates to either of these two incidents. After releasing a statement Wycombe have said they will not be commenting further at this stage.
