Frustration was the theme of the weekend for both Beaconsfield and Gerrards Cross as their respective matches were both rained off.

Firstly, Gerrards Cross’ chances of bouncing back from last week’s eight wicket loss were scuppered as they failed to complete their match against Cookham Dean.

After batting first Cross found themselves on 208-8 after 47 overs largely thanks to opener Matthew Watson’s 60 from 102 balls.

Samuel Bracey (20), Daniel Hampton (27), Benjamin Lane (37) and Richard Knudson (23) also got starts but none could go onto make telling scores.

The Cross batting effort proved to be academic anyway as the poor weather prevented Cookham from even starting their response.

Cross entertain Aston Rowant Firsts on Saturday as they continue to search for their first win of the season.

It was a similar story for Thames Valley Cricket League side Beaconsfield in their Division 2B match against High Wycombe Seconds.

Adam Francis (58) and Nilesh Odedra (68) did the bulk of the scoring for Beaconsfield to take them to 151-1 from 43.2 overs before the match was abandoned.

Beaconsfield will now turn their attention to a meeting with Chiswick & Whitton on Saturday where they will be confident of getting a result against the division’s bottom side.
