Jack Goff is targeting a trio of strong finishes at Croft this weekend to continue his impressive start to the British Touring Car Championships (BTCC) season.

The High Wycombe man currently occupies eighth position in the overall drivers’ standings after a campaign which has seen him secure two podium finishes to date.

The Team IHG Rewards driver had a hit and miss weekend last time out at Oulton Park, but is confident of rediscovering his consistency on a track where BMW drivers have previously thrived.

“Oulton Park wasn’t a great weekend for us and we’re now eighth in the championship, but we’ve taken stock of that, analysed the weekend and now know why things went the way they did,” Goff said.

“Croft has traditionally been a circuit where the BMWs have performed well.”

While the 25-year-old has never had a top three finish at Croft, his team enjoys a far more successful history at the North Yorkshire circuit.

Last season’s race saw IHG secure a win which took WSR-run teams to a record 15th victory at the circuit.

Team principal, Dick Bennetts, believes the visit to Croft could be the ideal opportunity for the team to return to their best form.

He said: “Jack and Team IHG Rewards Club have had some great results so far this season on tracks that generally haven’t allowed the BMW to maximise their strengths.

“Oulton Park – a circuit where we were expecting a strong weekend – didn’t quite go as planned, but there’s a great opportunity to regain lost ground at Croft.

“The Team IHG Rewards Club BMW was victorious at Croft last year on a weekend where WSR-run cars won all three races, and that means that we head there with confidence and high expectations.”

Goff has achieved points finishes in 10 of the 12 races so far this season and has helped his side to the top of the BTCC manufacturers’ and constructors’ standings.

The race for the championship remains tight and Goff is just 43 points behind leader Sam Tordoff, whose lofty position is largely a result of three podium finishes at Oulton.

Tordoff’s performance is one Goff believes he can take inspiration from and is hoping to replicate at Croft.

Goff said: “It’s just so tight at the top in the BTCC this season that if we have a weekend like Sam Tordoff did at Oulton we could be right back in the fight.

“I’ve never been on the podium at Croft, but it’s something I’m determined to put right this weekend so we can head into the summer break on a high.”
