Students at Marlow’s Phoenix Fist Martial Arts School were treated to a visit from World Kung Fu Champion, Master Keith Dwan, on Sunday.

The day saw Master Dwan spend time teaching the club’s members various different skills including a special workshop on the use of sun fire wheels.

The ancient martial arts weapon consists of two spiked rings which are held in each hand, and Phoenix Fist’s chief instructor Steve Whitehouse believes the sessions were hugely beneficial to the club’s members.

He explained: “It was a huge honour for us that a world famous martial artist of Master Dwan’s level came to visit us. It was a fantastic day.

“We had students from young teenagers to people in their 70s. Master Dwan is such a great teacher that everyone went away with the first part of the fire wheels form and much more besides.”

Master Dwan began the session with an introduction to the history of the weapon before educating Phoenix Fist members on the Thai Chi form of the fire wheels.

All the students were then taught the first section of the form, before being presented with a copy of Master Dwan’s book The Forgotten Weapon of Martial Arts.
