Gareth Ainsworth says his Wycombe Wanderers side have nothing to fear ahead of tomorrow’s clash with recently relegated Blackpool.

The Blues head to Bloomfield Road on the back of picking up four points from matches against Grimsby Town Accrington Stanley in the past week.

Blackpool’s slump from a Premier League club in 2011 to League Two side has been rapid, and Ainsworth feels his side’s improved form should give them confidence.

“It is an unknown. Five years ago Blackpool were in the Premier league, so we will be proud to be walking out at Bloomfield Road,” he said.

“But it is another game in League Two and we have nothing to fear. We will go out there and play.

“I am sure whatever 11 we play will be good enough to get the points and bring them back to Adams Park.

“If we play the way we know we can for 90 minutes we will be well up there competing against the best teams in the league.”

To do so they will have to reverse a run of seven games in a row without a win against the Tangerines, which stretches back to 1999.

A 22nd place League One finish was a fair assessment of a season which saw Blackpool score just 40 goals last term.

Gary Bowyer took over on June 1 and has so far taken four points in his opening three league games in charge.

The results have them three places ahead of Wanderers in the table on goal difference alone, and victory for Ainsworth’s side could see them climb into the play-off places.

The Wanderers boss still expects to be without a host of important players but stressed his injury concerns are improving.

He said: “Paul Hayes is very close and we will see about the others. Max Muller is going to be out longer term than everyone else and Scott Brown is also a bit longer.

“The rest (Luke O’Nien, Myles Weston and Paris Cowan-Hall) are all in contention, with Paul Hayes probably at the front of the queue.”

On a personal note, Ainsworth expects a frosty reception from the Blackpool fans as a result of his connections with rival clubs.

Ainsworth said: “I am known as a Preston player, so I am sure I will get a little bit of stick from the Blackpool fans.

“I am a Blackburn fan so Burnley is the big one for me, but I am sure Blackpool will be wanting to get one over a former Preston player.”
