Tyrrell Hatton came so close to winning his first title on the PGA Tour when he finished in a tie for fourth in the Honda Classic.

Hatton forced his way into the final group with American Rickie Fowler on Sunday after a sparkling round of golf on Saturday propelled him into second.

However, the 25-year-old shot a disappointing two over par round of 72 to finish five shots behind eventual winner Fowler.

The Harleyford ace also climbed another place in the world rankings to 17 and declared on Twitter that he would love to be back for the Honda Classic next year.

He said: “Big thank you to Ken Kennerly for the invite to play in the Honda Classic. Great tournament and hopefully I can play it again next year.”

Next up for Hatton is a trip to Mexico to play in the WGC- Mexico Championship, where the top 50 in the world will compete against each other to win such a prestigious prize.
