Chesham Bois Lawn Tennis and Squash Club played host to two of the world’s best squash players last Friday when they played an exhibition match for charity.

World number six, James Willstrop and world number 19, Mathieu Castagnet, were involved in a fast and furious charity exhibition match for members and visitors. The evening raised £1,000 for St Francis Hospice and the Molly Watt Trust.

In a cordial duel, the pair showcased an impressive array of shots, accompanied by plentiful banter, which was warmly appreciated by the 120-strong audience.

The exhibition match was preceded by a 90-minute masterclass squash clinic, which Willstrop and Castagnet hosted for 40 of the club’s members, of all ages, and Dr Challoner’s School.

The club, off Chestnut Lane, hosted the world-class squash pair as they prepared to compete at the Canary Wharf Classic tournament in London, which Castagnet won in 2016.

The club would like to extend heartfelt thanks to its sponsors of the night, Lennons Solicitors, Wattmoney, Alan Janes Solicitors, Rebellion Brewery, Dr Challoner’s Grammar School and Fitness4less.
