Marlow Hockey Club U16 girls reached the Outdoor National Hockey Finals following their appearance at the Indoor National Finals in January.
The club is very proud of the girls who come from six local schools, Sir William Borlase, Great Marlow, Wycombe High, Beaconsfield High, Wycombe Abbey, and Pipers Corner.
Marlow hosted Cambridge, Norwich and Olton & West Warks in the regional round.
Marlow beat Cambridge 3-1, who were hot favourites having qualified last year at U14 age group nationals, in their first game.
They followed that up with a win against Olton & West Warks 2-1. Results in the other matches meant that Marlow only needed a draw to see them through.
It was a nail biting last match which was 0-0 at half-time Marlow having had much of the pressure but were unable to convert it into goals.
Within three minutes of the start of the second half Ellie Yeomans found the back of the net finishing off a really well worked team goal.
Norwich were not going to give in easily and did not stop fighting right until the last whistle.
That fight lead them to equalise with seven minutes to go meaning Marlow had to avoid a repeat of last year and conceding a goal in the last two minutes and seeing themselves out of the competition.
The game finished 1-1 much to the relief of the large crowd of Marlow parents and supporters.
