Tyrrell Hatton continued his supreme form during his three-month sojourn in the USA with an excellent tied fourth finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill Golf Club in Florida.

The 25-year-old finished on nine under, two shots behind the eventual winner, Marc Leishman from Australia.

After another tremendous display of golf from the Harleyford Golf Club professional, he has now moved up to career high 14 in the world, ahead of Masters champion, Danny Willett.

On top of that, his recent performances have enabled him gain temporary membership on the PGA Tour.

Hatton also expressed his pride and adulation after playing in such a prestigious tournament, the first time this tournament has been played since Palmer passed away last year.

He said on Twitter: “A special week for me. Remembering a true legend and playing his tournament.

“Also gained temporary membership on the PGA Tour.”

This week, the attention turns to matchplay rather than strokeplay as the world’s best players compete for the WGC- World Matchplay event at the Austin Country Club in Texas.

Hatton will be tenth seed at the event and the first three days comprise of a round robin, where all four players play against each other.

The Bucks ace will be up against Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Jeunghun Wang and Charles Howell III before hopefully getting through as the winner of that group into the knockout stages.
