Wycombe Wanderers club captain Matt Bloomfield is beginning a new venture in the summer, with the opening of the Matt Bloomfield Academy.

Bloomfield and former Wanderers goalkeeping coach, Martin Brennan, will be starting the sessions at the beginning of August, with the first dates on August 1,2 and 3 already booked up.

After that, the next dates available are on August 22, 23 and 24 to be held at the Altwood School in Maidenhead for kids aged seven to 14.

The Chairboys stalwart explained it is something he has wanted to do for quite some time.

He said: “It is something I have wanted to do for a number of years but not found anyone who fitted with that.

“It is about trying to give something back and build something outside the club and for myself and also give something back to the local kids.

“I am currently doing my coaching badges so it all ties in nicely and I am really excited about it.”

To start with the academy will just be during the summer holidays, but over time the 33-year-old hopes to extend that to the evenings.

He added: “This is something that isn’t going to be replacing my football career as that comes first and foremost for me and I wanted to this alongside someone who could be there all the time.

“It would be great if I could find some gems out there in local football and with my experience in football I would love to be able to aid and help the kids.

“We want this to be a specialist football coaching camp and we hope the kids have a great time and improve whilst they are with us.”
