Royal Grammar School 1st XI skipper, Teddie Casterton, broke the school cricket record with an unbeaten 267 against John Hamden Grammar School last weekend.

The 17-year-old opener, who has been training with the Northants Academy over the winter, reached the landmark total in just 153 balls, including 32 fours and 13 sixes.

He beat the previous record holder, Saif Zaib, now a professional at Northants, whose 230 in 2014 had looked to last much longer.

Casterton followed this up with an unbeaten 109 the next day against Radley College to propel RGS 1st XI to the next round as HMC T20 pool winners.

Casterton has already scored 750 runs in pre-season, including a 40-ball 116 for High Wycombe Academy, 110 in a 1st XI v 2nd XI club match, together with 67 for HWCC 1st XI v Bucks CCC.

Director of senior cricket at High Wycombe Cricket Club, Adam Dobb, said: “It’s great to see Teddie get off to such a flying start this season not only at RGS but also here at HWCC. Ted had a tough winter and worked hard so it’s nice to see he is seeping the rewards early on. let’s hope this is the start of a special season for him”
