Gareth Ainsworth has not conceded the fight for a playoff place, despite seeing his Wanderers side only muster a 1-1 draw against Morecambe.

Kevin Ellison's smart 80th minute finish looked to have wrapped up the points for the home side before Adebayo Akinfenwa's 18th goal of the season two minutes from time rescued a point for the Blues.

Ainsworth bemoaned Morecambe's goal but was pleased with the response from his team.

He said: "It was a poor goal to concede and we gave them too many easy chances but we responded as I knew we would.

"It still isn't done which is great. We need three teams above to us to mess up and we are playing one of them (Cambridge).

"If we do our job and two teams help us out then we will be in the playoffs and that's what I will be saying.

"There is all sorts that could still go on and we still have a chance but we have to do our job against Cambridge.

"If we play like we did here, then we won't do it."

Scott Kashket was due to be heavily involved at Morecambe but pulled out in the week with a recurrence of the groin injury that has forced him to miss a large chunk of 2017.

Ainsworth added: "It was a huge blow to lose Scott.

"Scotty was in the team building up to the game and it hampered our preparations.

"The front three at Barnet was what we had planned. Thommo has been great lately and he is a talent and he did well."

Even if Wycombe do fail to get into the playoffs, Ainsworth will still rate the season a good one if the Chairboys beat Cambridge at Adams Park next weekend.

He commented: "If we finish on 69 points that would be a good season and I would be really proud of that.

"However, it would be nice to get in the playoffs, just that added bonus and I would love to be able to give that back to the fans.

"I said it would go right down to the last game and I am glad to be proven right.

"The boys are playing for something right until that last game, and although it is in other people's hands, we will give it all we have got."
