A High Wycombe showjumper enjoyed success at the Senior British Novice Second Round in East Sussex last weekend, reaching the final of the novice championships.

Emma-Jo Slater took her spot in the final jump off on board Kings of Leon, an eight-year-old bay gelding owned by Kim Barzilay.
Over the newly shortened course, this pair flew to a treble clear crossing the finish line in an unbeatable 44.49 seconds.

A big field of 84 competitors came forward to compete at Parwood Equestrian Centre on the south coast on Sunday and Slater proved to be on formidable form once again.

Each and every competitor started the class with high hopes of gaining a place in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final, which is to be held at the British Showjumping National Championships in August.

Following two competitive rounds, nineteen remained to contest for a treble clear in the final jump off.

Scooping second place was Cassie Ann Chapman from Westerham, Kent with her own six-year-old bay mare, Chicago VII.

This combination also posted a treble clear and finished in a time of 49.11 seconds.

Charlotte Edwards from Andover, Hampshire jumped in to third place on board Little Pocket Rock II, a seven-year-old grey mare owned by Jeanette Edwards.

This partnership claimed their treble clear in 49.72 seconds.
With a further four riders also achieving a treble clear, seven combinations will now go forward to the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
