Tyrrell Hatton will play his first event on UK soil this year at the famous Wentworth West Course as some of the world’s top players contest the BMW PGA Championship.
Hatton, the world number 16, will return to Surrey this weekend after a reasonably successful three month sojourn in the United States, playing on the PGA Tour.
Playing in a host of tournaments, including making his Masters debut at Augusta, the 25-year-old featured prominently on many leaderboards in the US, regularly competing against some of the world’s top players.
Now, he bids to lift the coveted trophy in the first tournament as part of the Rolex Series, a new initiative to entice the finest golfers to play at some of the top venues in Europe.
Amongst Hatton’s competitors will be Open champions Henrik Stenson, 2016 Masters champion Danny Willett and Olympic gold medallist Justin Rose.
Unfortunately, Rory McIlroy had to pull out of the event due to a recurrence of a rib injury he sustained earlier this year.
