Marlow suffered a cup exit as they lost their replay to Aveley FC 5-3 after extra time in the Buildbase FA Trophy.

In just the second minute the home side had the ball in the net when a cross from Paul Preston on the right was headed past Simon Grant to score a goal, something that neither side managed in the first encounter at Oak Tree Road on Saturday.

Marlow pressure eventually paid off with Jordace Holder Spooner shooting hard and lo past Madden to bring the scores level.

Having conceded early in the first period Marlow then proceeded to do the same in the second when poor defending allowed a ball from the left to reach the unmarked Jordan Peart inside their area and he smashed the ball home to restore the lead.

However, in the fourth minute Marlow won a free kick just outside the home box and although Marcus Mealing’s free kick rebounded back off the defensive wall he then coolly despatched the ball back into the net to send the game into extra time.

Yet again the Marlow defence allowed the home side too much space and were made to pay when Nathan Koranteng restored their lead but a rebound onto the shin of Jordan Lee-Brown almost restored parity very quickly only to be scrambled away. Amazing a repeat within a minute or so this time saw the same happen but this time the ball beat Madden and the scores were level yet again.

Paul Preston and Michael Osei then scored late goals to seal the win for Aveley in the 119th minute after a topsy-turvy encounter, one which Marlow performed well in.
