Wycombe defender Joe Jacobson praised his team-mates for grinding out a hard-working win over Yeovil Town.

Jacobson scored on 42 minutes from the penalty spot to make it 2-0 but Yeovil pulled one back just before the break to ensure Wycombe were kept up to their work in the second half.

Jacobson said: "It was a battling display. We made it difficult for ourselves conceding just before half time.

"If we had gone in at the break 2-0 up then I thought we would have gone on and won the game comfortably.

"They had a foothold in the game at 2-1 and it takes just one mistake or goal to allow them back into it.

"We had to remain resolute and strong and seeing games out is something we have struggled with this season.

"It was good that we didn't give us any opportunities and in the end it has probably done us better than winning the game comfortably.

"On the bench there was only one player who was 100 per cent fit. We have more than enough in the squad where we can deal with injuries and the squad strength this season is so good."

Jacobson praised fellow goalscorer Eze for yet another mesmeric performance.

He added: "Ebere is brilliant. He is someone you can trust with the ball even if he has three players around him.

"You know he is going to keep it but not only that, for someone of his age, he makes the right decision so often and it is something that he will take a long way.

"You can tell he is a big talent and the best thing about him is he is such a nice lad and grounded and happy to work hard.

"He is someone who has taken to us and the club and has been a great asset to us."
