Beaconsfield Town suffered a setback in their challenge for promotion as they lost 1-0 in an eventful match against Hayes & Yeading at Holloways Park.

Many Duku scored the game's only goal from the penalty spot with eight minutes to go after Nathan Webb was adjudged to have pulled back Toby Little in the box.

A frantic start saw The Rams' Jordan Ajanlekoko dismissed on six minutes for handball. The East Division’s leading scorer Duku stepped up to take the penalty but saw it well saved by Brendan Hazlett in the Beaconsfield goal.

The ten-man Rams regrouped and more than matched their visitors in terms of possession and chances created, Wes Daly seeing a 13th minute saved by Zaki Oualah whilst Duku and Sahr Kabba went close with chances for Hayes.

The second period also began in explosive fashion as within 60 seconds of the restart Hayes captain Tom Smith pulled Kezie Ibe back as he bore down on goal. Smith was dismissed and Baj Pashaj stepped up to take the penalty but saw it smash against the bar.

The now ten a-side game saw both sides put in a lot of effort but neither created many chances to bother keepers Hazlett or Oualah.

On 75 minutes, however, Hayes were reduced to nine men as Ola Olajubu was given a second yellow for handball.

The Rams pushed on to find the break through goal, Lee Barney seeing an effort well blocked at the last by the visiting defence.

On 82 minutes, Hayes broke away with Toby Little and Nathan Webb was adjudged to have pulled him back in the area.

Whilst the first two penalties left little room for debate this one was very harsh but given it was and Duku sent Hazlett the wrong way to put his side in front and gain the points.
