Wanderers forward Craig Mackail-Smith has become the third Wycombe player this week to sign a new deal, extending his stay at Adams Park for another two years.

The striker, 34, arrived on a free transfer in August and has netted 10 goals in 42 appearances so far, including a stunning hat-trick in the 4-0 win over Crawley Town plus vital winners at Colchester United and Crewe Alexandra.

Manager Gareth Ainsworth said: “Craig came to us with a fantastic pedigree across the EFL and has fitted in superbly with the way we play. As well as his goals, he brings an unbelievable work ethic and runs his socks off every game to help the team.

“He’d had a serious injury at Luton before coming here but proved he’s fully recovered and has plenty of football left in him, so I’m thrilled to keep him as part of the squad for another two seasons.”

Earlier this week, Nathan Tyson penned a new one-year deal while Matt Bloomfield extended his contract by a further two years.
