More than 1,000 budding sports stars took part in the annual Festival of Football in Flackwell Heath at the weekend.

A total of £1,760 girls and boys from 220 different teams travelled to the Green Dragon Lane Sports Ground on Saturday and Sunday which was hosted again by Flackwell Heath Minor FC.

The event aims to raise money for the club, which is invested into new goals, hiring better training facilities and grounds improvement.

Club chairman Declan Breen said: “It went really, really well.

“We had a total of around 3,000 people attend the event, including the players.

“For the first time we also had a girls’ section which went down really well and we got some good feedback.

“It is a real community event. It’s a fantastic day for the club and kids. It’s a tremendous, colourful day.”
