Tyrrell Hatton will continue his love affair with links courses in the next couple of weeks as he attempts to win the Scottish Open before a crack at winning his first major, The Open Championship, the following week.

The 26-year-old had a week off following a decent week at the French Open and his return to form is timely with the season’s third major fast approaching.

Hatton will tee it up at the Scottish Open at Gullane on the East Lothian coast this week with a stellar field set to line-up alongside him.

The likes of Masters champion Patrick Reed, Justin Rose, Phil Mickelson and Henrik Stenson will all be playing at the venue ahead of The Open at Carnoustie.

Hatton has an enviable record at links courses, having won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2016 and 2017, which takes in Carnoustie as one of its courses alongside St Andrews and Kingsbarns.

The Harleyford professional also finished tied fifth at The Open in 2016 at Royal Troon. His last major he contended was the US Open at Shinnecock Hills where he came sixth.

With a whole host of golf to still be played this summer, Hatton is still firmly in contention for a debut appearance at the Ryder Cup at the end of September in Paris where Team Europe will be hoping to reclaim the honours from Team USA after the Americans won in 2016.
