Alex Hales’ superb run of form continued in the recent T20 series against India, even though England went down narrowly 2-1 in the three-match series.

After suffering a chastening defeat in the opening match at Old Trafford, England turned it round in the second game at Cardiff thanks in no small part to a fantastic innings from Hales.

The former Chesham Grammar School student saw England home with just two balls to spare, chasing down 149 to win after the England bowlers restricted India to 148/5 from their 20 overs.

Hales played a wonderful innings of 58 not out off 41 balls to make the series 1-1 heading to the final game at Bristol on Sunday.

England batted first and posted a challenging total of 198/9 with Hales making 30 off 24 balls before he was caught behind off the bowling of Hardik Pandya.

That total proved to be not enough, however, as India chased it down with ease as Rohit Sharma made a sparkling century to clinch the series.

Next up is a three-match one day series, beginning tomorrow.
