Tyrrell Hatton’s impressive recent form continued with another top ten finish at the Scottish Open this weekend.

Hatton, 26, was the leader at the halfway mark by two shots but as one of the later starters on Saturday, he endured the worst of the conditions and slipped out of top spot.

However, he ground out a very respectable tied ninth finish at Gullane Golf Club on the East Lothian coast and is in a good run of form ahead of The Open Championship, which begins at Carnoustie tomorrow.

Hatton eventually finished the tournament on 13 under par, seven shots behind South African Brandon Stone who shot an incredible final round of 60 to win the prestigious event.

World number 23 Hatton said on Twitter: “T9th this week.

“Not the day I hoped for but feel like I hit the ball a lot better, hopefully take that into next week.

“Incredible round from @BrandonMStone a round worthy to win such a great tournament. @ScottishOpen #ASIScottishOpen #RolexSeries”

Due to his enviable record around links courses, Hatton will surely be one of the names mentioned as one of a whole host of players who could win on the east coast of Scotland, at a course dubbed the toughest on the Open rota.

With conditions due to be similar to the Scottish Open, Hatton is in with a shout.
