Ben Smith made it a magnificent seven wins out of seven on Sunday in Bedford when he knocked down his opponent in the fourth round.

Smith was on superb form at the Corn Exchange as he easily beat Nadeem Chaudhry as he bids to make a step up to the big time in his next bout.

The 21-year-old was delighted with his win to keep up his unbeaten record and he now looks ahead to another step up the ladder in seven weeks time.

He said: “I boxed really well on Sunday.

“He was a decent fighter and I would say the best I have fought so far but it was nice to knock him down and win easily.

“My coach, Mark Tibbs, didn’t have too much to say to me between rounds which meant I was doing well. He just told me to keep doing what I am doing and in the end it was great to knock him down. It was pretty faultless.”

Next up for Smith is a likely fight at the 02 on September 15 under the guise of Frank Warren and Smith feels he is ready to make the step up to eight rounds.

He added: “At the end of the fourth I still had loads left in the tank and a step up to eight rounds would be no problem.

“It is great to fight better boxers and that works to my advantage as I spar with some top quality boxers and they will give me more chances to hit as they will attack me more so I can’t wait.

“It is seven weeks now of pure training for me.”
