Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth has secured a loan move for midfielder Bryn Morris, who joins the Chairboys from Shrewsbury Town until January 2

The 22-year-old was one of the stars of the Shrews side that finished third in Sky Bet League One last season, featuring in the starting line-up of all three play-off ties that culminated in defeat to Rotherham in the final at Wembley.

A change of management at the New Meadow has resulted in the former Middlesbrough youngster being made available for loan, with Ainsworth beating off interest from other clubs to land his man.

He said: “As soon as we knew we were losing Luke O’Nien to Sunderland, Bryn was top of the list of players we wanted to bring in to fill that position, so I’m delighted to get this deal over the line because there were a number of other clubs trying to sign him.

“He’s an excellent box-to-box midfielder who can do both sides of the game, breaking up play and linking up with the attack, so I’ve no doubt he’ll fit into the side really well.

“Bryn comes highly recommended from our captain Adam El-Abd, who was a team-mate of his at Shrewsbury, and we’re looking forward to seeing him in the light and dark blue shirt and seeing how he can help us over the next five months.”

A former team-mate of Dele Alli in the England youth set-up, Morris has represented his country at every age level from under-16 to under-20, captaining the side on a number of occasions.

Morris will wear number 17 during his time with the club.
