Tyrrell Hatton's quest for a Major in 2018 is over despite a strong showing in the US PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club, finishing in a tie for 10th.

In the last of the four Major Championships, Hatton rocketed up the leaderboard in the final round, carding an impressive six under par 64 alongside playing partner Rafa Cabrera-Bello, who shot the same.
Hatton's superb round was also without a dropped shot and his 10th place finish moved him from 25th in the world to 23rd.

With the Majors now done for another year, Hatton still has a host of important tournaments to play before he is handed a likely debut in the Ryder Cup.

Last year, Hatton missed all four cuts at the Majors and this year he made all four with a best finish of tied sixth at the US Open in June at Shinnecock Hills in New York.

Despite not winning this calendar year, Hatton has had a decent summer and has further cemented his position in the Ryder Cup qualification places for the biennial event, which is being held in September at Le Golf National on the outskirts of Paris.

Of his finishing round at Bellerive, Hatton said: "Really pleased with how I hit the ball.

"Hitting more fairways allowed me to go at more pins.

"Six undfer and bogey free, think that’s my lowest round in a Major."
