ON a day when Jack Wallace started at full back for Wasps, another RGS old boy made a breakthrough on the international stage.
Wasps winger Christian Wade has been called into the England Sevens squad which will take on USA, Russia and Kenya on day one of the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens.
Wade will also travel with the squad to South Africa, for pool matches against Scotland, Argentina and Tunisia.
Wade has already shone with England at U20 level, alongside Wasps team-mates Hugo Ellis, Joe Simpson and Wallace, and the flying winger scored five tries for his club at the Middlesex Sevens at Twickenham in September.
England Sevens coach Ben Ryan said: “Everyone in the squad has worked very hard to get here.
“More hard work is around the corner for all of the players, but we go to Dubai and George with a good mix of players who can’t wait to wear the white shirt with pride.”
England go to Dubai on December 4 and a week later are in George, South Africa.
England Sevens squad: Jake Abbott (Worcester); Kevin Barrett (Saracens); Chris Brightwell (Birmingham & Solihull); Dan Caprice (Blackheath); Chris Cracknell (Unattached); Isoa Damudamu (British Army); Ben Gollings (Gold Coast, Australia); Dan Norton (Bristol); James Rodwell (Moseley); Nick Royle (Fylde); Matt Turner (Bristol); Christian Wade (Wasps).
