BLUES defender Chris Westwood is facing three weeks on the sidelines after tearing his hamstring in training on Monday.
The two-times promotion winner with Peterborough United suffered the setback just 48 hours after starring in Blues’ 2-0 win at Millwall where he headed in the opening goal to set Blues on course for their first win in 15 outings.
His injury came just two minutes after team-mate Matt Bloomfield also hobbled off the training ground after pulling his hamstring.
Westwood said: “It’ s just my luck. I had just got my place back in the side and then this happens.
“It couldn’t have been any worse timing. I was over the moon after the Millwall game and thought I’d finally turned the corner, everything seemed to be going in my direction at last.”
The injury is another setback in what has been a stuttering start to Westwood’s Wycombe career, which looked as though it could be over when he had a shocker on his comeback game, playing out of position in the 6-0 defeat at Huddersfield.
But manager Gary Waddock gave him another chance in his accustomed centre half position and Westwood grabbed it with both hands.
Now Westwood is hoping he can beat the timeline he has been set, by returning in half the time.
Bloomfield has also been warned to expect three weeks out after his identical injury.
Waddock said: “I couldn’t believe it. We kept the session light because of the game on Tuesday and to lose two players within minutes of each other to the same injury was really strange.”
Meanwhile scans have revealed that on loan Reading midfielder Scott Davies has trapped a nerve at the back of his leg.
Waddock said: “It’s painful and we don’t know how long it will take, but we’re hoping it won’t be too long.”
Meanwhile Leon Johnson will have an operation on his hip injury.
