ASTON Rowant CC teenager Linsey Smith enhanced her reputation with a Man of the Match performance to help Reading become Women’s Premier League Champions.
The 15-year-old has already impressed former England captain Michael Vaughan this season and on Saturday she was at her absolute best again.
Playing in a highly-charged match alongside a host of players from the England Womens’ team, Smith demolished Ransome with figures of 5-9 to send her team to a title-clinching victory.
As part of an attack also including Wycombe and England’s Isa Guha, Smith claimed the prize scalps of England’s Katherine Brunt and Nicky Shaw alsongside Sarah Daman-Willems, Charlotte Horton and Rebecca Widdowson.
Director of cricket at Aston Rowant Wesley Morrick coaches her privately.
He said: “She’s got a strong bowling action and decent rhythm. She swings the ball big, has wonderful control and a good thinking brain.
“She’s got all the attributes so hopefully we’ll be watching her on television one day. I think she’s got a great chance of playing for England.”
