HIGH Wycombe RFC – now under new management.
It’s been a busy summer for the Kingsmead Road club but the comings and goings behind the scenes haven’t disrupted the team and on Saturday seven debutants helped them to a 15-13 victory at Reading on day one of the new South West 1 East season.
New manager Alistair Foyle said: “It was a very well-organised performance. We played as a team and wanted it more. I think there is quite a lot still to come.”
Foyle has replaced Mike Cussell, who has moved upstairs to become director of rugby at the club, while Paul Gaster has stepped forward as head coach.
On the playing front, captain Craig Murray has moved on to try his luck at Henley while Keiran Mann has relocated to America.
Wycs were also without cricketers Pete Connell and Nick Robinson, who were finishing off a bizarre season for Wycombe Warriors at the weekend.
Foyle said: “There’s been some change here, but Paul Gaster’s coaching has been second to none and the players have really bought into it.
“They were following the moves and patterns of play that they have been working on during pre-season and I was pleasantly surprised at the way the team gelled.”
