WASPS owner Steve Hayes revealed he wants the new Community Stadium to be unlike anything else in the country.
He said: “We don’t want to build just another stadium.
“Near enough every stadium in this country is built by architects as opposed to supporters – we want to do something different.
“Some of the architects that have come in to talk to us have shown us pictures of three or four stadiums and asked us which is which.
“It’s hard to determine because a lot of them look the same.
“That’s not what we want to do. We want to do something that is really good for supporters and really good for generating revenue when games aren’t on.”
Hayes and club director Lawrence Dallaglio have already been on some fact-finding trips to Abu Dhabi.
He said: “Every time you go to Abu Dhabi and look at the architecture...they have a question there, can this be done? If it can be done they’ll do it.
“It’s the long-term we’re looking at, not the short-term, and we want a stadium that’s perfect for supporters.
“It’s about fully utilising areas and if we can learn things from Abu Dhabi we will.”
