A DEPLETED Wycombe District Swimming Club found themselves stuck in the snow after a recent Thames Valley Junior League meet in Maidenhead.

Some of the swimmers had to stay with friends or relatives after heavey snowfall made some roads unpassable.

In the pool, nine-year-olds Emily Gradding and Annie Wedell made up for a shortage of number by competing in their age group as well as the ten-year category.

Individual bests were recorded by Finlay Green in 50m breaststroke and Maddie Clark in 50m butterfly plus Naveesha Karunanyaka and Patrick Kenny in their 50m freestyle races.

There were also lifetime bests from Ayodele Evanson in the 50m butterly and Jonathan Jelfs in the 50m backstroke, Emma Brune in the 50m backstroke and Rebecca Hill in the 50m breaststroke.

The final Thames Valley League round takes place on March 3, where another weakened Wycombe team will be swimming at Amersham in the B Final as most of their top performers are rested for the A team Juniors for County Championships and the Summer Milton Keynes National Junior League events coming up.
