  • "I wonder if whether the 'business case' for expanding the ground's development were broadened, that there would be more practical support for it?

For instance, you build a road out the back of the ground, run it up the hill through the fields and create a new motorway junction on the M40 where the Lane End Road crosses over it.

Not only would it become a dedicated entrance/exit for matchday traffic, but during the week it would serve most traffic heading for the industrial estate, plus Lane End, West Wycombe, Sands, Booker etc. thus freeing up Handy X and the West side of Wycombe from a fair amount of traffic.

I realise this is still going over Green Belt land, but if a more compelling case can be forged, it might stand more chance. With this in place, expanding the ground becomes far easier and the denizens of Sands have a quieter life..."

Wanderers takeover deal imminent

Steve Hayes Steve Hayes

A DEAL that will see Wycombe Wanderers supporters take over the running of the club from owner Steve Hayes is imminent.

The Wycombe Wanderers Trust and the club said today that talks are "in the final stages of negotiations" and a deal could be concluded within the next few weeks.

An agreement over possible changes to shareholder rights is one of the issues that needs to be ironed out before the deal can go ahead, although the joint statement says the deal is designed to preserve the Frank Adams legacy of Adams Park for Wycombe Wanderers.

Wycombe Wanderers Trust Chairman Trevor Stroud said: "We believe we are in a strong position to take the club and Adams Park forward under the Trust’s stewardship and we are pleased with the favourable terms being offered by Steve Hayes in this process.

Mr Hayes said: "I am confident that Wycombe Wanderers Trust are the right people to take the club forward. For now the focus of everyone involved is to ensure the deal is completed as quickly as possible."

Both parties have said they will not comment further on the deal until talks are concluded.
