Jamal Khan, centre, has won eight out of eight
JAMAL Khan is doing his best to follow in the footsteps of Wycombe Boxing Club teammate Ben Smith after winning his eighth fight in a row at the weekend.
Smith was recently capped by England in an international against Ireland, becoming the first Wycombe boxer to reach the top level.
But Khan could be close behind.
He was up against the previously unbeaten Jimmy Sains from Brentwood but rose to the occasion at Alexandra Palace to leave that record in tatters with a unanimous points victory.
Wycombe coach John MacInnes said: “Jamal boxed very well and it was a great way to finish the season and a fantastic venue to box at.
“He has been working very hard at the club, training five to six days a week, and the results are really starting to show.
“His opponent was undefeated and we knew it was a step up in class but Jamal always comes up with the answers.”
