Knotty Green 'in the mire'

Greens face the drop due to official shortages
THREE years ago Knotty Green were Mid Bucks League champions – this season they face relegation for reasons not exclusively to do with cricket.
Each team has to provide a scorer and an umpire for home matches, earning two points for each position filled.
Knotty Green haved failed to do so on all but one occasion this season, meaning they have lost out on about 20 points already – as it stands, they are 24 points adrift at the foot of the table.
First team player David Williams said: “It sounds like such a small thing but it’s becoming more of a problem in the lower leagues. People are working harder and finding it more difficult to find time at the weekend.
“Our club president and his partner used to do it, but he’s in his 80s now and other people at the club can’t seem to find time to do it.
“You can lose an awful loft of points in the course of a season so we’re desperate to find an umpire and scorer.
“I suppose this is almost an appeal, to see if we can get ourselves out of the mire.
“It’s probably cost us about 20 points already and if there is another 20 points out there we need to make sure we get them.”

Cricket is such a wonderful game and generates a terrific yet genteel atmosphere.
Locals, time to rally round and help your club!
