WASPS have moved swiftly to replace Dom Waldouck with an international centre of real quality.

Experienced Italian international centre Andrea Masi has played 69 times for his country, represented them at three World Cups and was named the RBS Six Nations Player of the Championship in 2011, becoming the first Italian to ever win the award.

He joins Wasps from Aironi after spells at Viadana, Biarritz and Racing Metro.

He will link up with fellow Italian international Fabio Staibano who arrived at the Club earlier this summer also from Aironi.

Director of rugby Dai Young said: “Andrea is a versatile player with proven quality and he will be bringing with him some vital experience from the highest level of the game.

"We are always looking to add real international quality to our squad and I see him as giving us great depth in our back-line.”

Masi said: “I am really excited and honoured to be joining such a great European club and I am hoping that I can add something to the club both on and off the field.”
