KARLA Boddy’s magnificent first 18 months in the saddle were rewarded when she was called up to represent Great Britain in the Tour de Feminin last week.
The 26-year-old High Wycombe Cycling Club rider was thrown in at the deep end for the six-stage race in the Czech Republic.
Her principle job was to support and protect the British team leader throughout the race.
High Wycombe Cycling Club president Gordon Wright said: “She was really thrown in at the deep end and she can only have learned from it.
“She earned her spurs by winning races locally and the GB team wanted to call her in.
“It was a huge thing for her because she has only been racing for 18 months.”
