Trialists given second chance by Blues
12:31pm Tuesday 24th July 2012 in Sport By Andy Carswell
TRIALISTS Karlton Watson and Mahrez Bettache both featured for Wanderers as they beat Windsor in a friendly last night.
Former Nottingham Forest defender Watson played his second full 90 minutes for Blues as he aims to earn a deal following a serious long-term injury.
Bettache played for an hour before being replaced by player-coach Gareth Ainsworth, who went on to score as Blues ran out 3-1 winners.
Algerian midfielder Bettache left Fulham in the summer after rejecting a new contract with the Cottagers, while Watson had a brief spell at Conference side Lincoln City last season.
New signing Lee Angol opened his Blues account early on before Windsor, managed by former Wanderers legend Keith Scott, levelled before the break.
Substitutes Olly Taylor and Ainsworth then both scored late on to seal victory for a Wycombe team made up mainly of youngsters.
They are likely to field several senior players in tomorrow night's friendly at Luton Town.
