Young relieved by Wasps' takeover

WASPS director of rugby Dai Young says it's a relief the club's takeover has finally been confirmed after bubbling just beneath the surface for months.

The deal that has seen a consortium put together by Ken Moss take over from Steve Hayes was completed on Friday, ending any lingering doubt about the viability of Wasps as a club.

Young said: “We all had confidence that it would be done, but to actually get it confirmed is nice. It's over the shoulder now, something we don't have to worry about.

“Now we can start planning a way forward both on and off the field.”

For the players too, there must be an enormous sense of relief.

Young said: “We weren't training [when the deal was done], but we've had meetings and told them it was imminent, so there was no real need to sit them down.

“We've told the players where we are and pretty much over the last month or so we've just been waiting for that announcement. It was something the players expected.”
