Blues swoop to sign Cardiff keeper
WANDERERS have signed Cardiff City keeper Elliot Parish on an emergency loan after regular stopper Nikki Bull was ruled out through injury.
The 22-year-old is likely to go straight into the side that faces Exeter City at St James' Park tonight following Bull's injury.
With Bull injured and teenager Matt Ingram undergoing surgery on Monday, Blues boss Gary Waddock swooped to sign Parish with 40-year-old goalkeeping coach Lee Harrison his only other option between the sticks.
Waddock told the club’s official website: "Bully’s been struggling for a while now but he’s an important player for us and we wanted him out there.
"However, it’s come to the time now where he needs rest so it can heal properly, but we’re hopeful it’s only a short-term problem."
Wanderers' number one had been carrying a thigh strain and in the last few matches has relied on team mates to take his goalkicks.
He looks set to be replaced in the team by 22-year-old Parish, a former England youth international who began his career at Aston Villa.
He had loan spells at Lincoln City and Cardiff last season, before joining the Bluebirds on a permanent deal in January. During his time at Adams Park he will wear the number 36 jersey.
