AFTER a series of near misses Erin Orford was finally crowned National Para Dressage champion last week.

The Radnage rider, who just missed out on GB selection for the Paralympics to double gold medal winner Natasha Baker, won Grade Two of the Warwickshire competition and also recorded the highest mark over all the grades.

The 22-year-old said: “It was my sixth visit to the nationals and I’ve had four or five second places so it was brilliant to finally get the title.

“It caps a really good year after winning the Belgium International in April and then the Hartpury International.

“We’ve been up against some reall high class competition and it’s really pushed us.”

And Orford, who will compete in an able-bodied home international this weekend, says there is even more to come from her and her nine-year-old horse Nirvana Morroko.

She said: “It’s all good experience for him and he was so settled out there.

“There is definitely more I can get from him so it’s very promising for the future.”
